Diamond and Ruby Earring Styles
There are basically three styles of diamond and ruby earrings on the
market today - stud earrings, hoop earrings and dangle earrings.
Stud earrings appear to float on the surface of the earlobe without
any visible means of support. The earring is attached to the back of
the ear through a post that connects to a stud at the back of a
pierced ear lobe. The post for the earring is held in place by
friction or clutch. When buying expensive diamond and ruby earrings
look for studs that have a threaded post which means the earings
have a small screw that helps hold it in place. This extra security
measure will help prevent the loss of o your expensive earings.
Hoop earrings are circular or semi-circular and resemble a ring put
through the ear. They are constructed of tubing made out of precious
metal. When it comes to diamond and ruby earrings there are open
ended and ones that close in a perfect circle that passes through
the ear. Some people find the half circle version of these earings
to be more comfortable.
Dangle earrings are attached by a studs or wires and contain gems
that hang like mobiles from the ears. They are generally attached
through thin wires that connect to a small hook in the back. A
variation on this is the French hook design which looks like a fish
hook going through the pierced ear. However if you are going to buy
an expensive pair of diamond and ruby earrings the French hook is
not really recommended as it is the least secure of all of the
diamond and ruby earring styles.
