Emerald Necklace Style Advice

The emerald necklace has been associated with eccentric royalty, filthy rich celebrities and ostentatious society ladies for so long that very few people think of buying one. The problem is the image of the emerald necklace as a frumpy piece of jewelry. Most of us remember these necklaces as being tight collars fraught with marquise cut jewels that were only suitable to wear to your own wedding or the fanciest of white tie formal functions.

However things have really changed since the days when lavish Art Deco and Victorian themes ruled the design of the emerald necklace. No longer restricted to the fashion domain of the fund raising little old lady, the emerald necklace is making a reappearance again as a piece of gemstone jewelry that can also be worn casually as an every day accessory.

It is much more common now to find a single, well cut emerald set in gold silver or platinum. Emeralds are often used to compliment other gemstones to create bold daisy like flowers or butterfly pendants. Emeralds can also be found dangling off the tips of a lasso type necklace along with diamonds, rubies or pearls. The birthstone emerald necklace is also a fairly common piece of jewelry that often comes in a set along with a matching pair of earrings and an emerald ring.

One interesting and very inexpensive style of emerald necklace has a bit of a New Age flair. Instead of a single stone, a tiny glass vial is filled with sparkling emerald chips and worn around the neck. The main purpose of wearing this type of necklace is to tap into the spiritual "vibe" of the emerald as an emotional stabilizing and wealth attracting gemstone.
