The Genuine Gemstone Jewelry of Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor is probably one of the most well-known celebrity collectors of genuine gemstone jewelry in the world including raw gems, pearls and gold and silver sterling gem stone jewelry. It seems like she took Marilyn Monroe's credo "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" very much to heart.

In fact one of the most famous diamonds in the world is the 69.42-carat pear shaped Taylor Burton diamond. Richard Burton originally gave this large egg shaped gem to her as an engagement ring. She later had it made into a necklace so she wouldn't lose it. Over the years Richard Burton, who married her twice would also give her the 33.0-carat Krupp diamond and an enormous vintage heart shaped yellow Persian diamond, which originally belonged to the designer of the Taj Majal.

Among the other treasures in Elizabeth Taylor's genuine gemstone jewelry collection are several emerald pieces including an emerald and diamond brooch, ring, bracelet and necklace. Many of the emeralds that were in this necklace were once in the genuine gemstone jewelry collection of the Grand Duchess Vladimir of Russia.Elizabeth Taylor also owns many fantastic sapphires and rubies including a cabochon-sapphire engagement ring from husband Michael Wilding and a glittering ruby necklace and earring set from husband Michael Todd.

One of Richard Burton's last and most spectacular gifts to La Liz was as ingle gigantic pearl called La Peregrina. This pear shaped pearl weighs 203.84 grams and had been in the Spanish Royal family since the sixteen hundreds until it ended up in Liz's possession.
