How To Buy A Three Stone Diamond Ring

The most traditional of engagement rings is probably the 3 stone diamond ring. This is because three stone diamond rings just seem to look the best no matter what the shape of your hand is. Also the three stone diamond ring has some significance symbolically. The two smaller gemstones flanking the center stone symbolize the two loving individuals and the larger stone represents their future together. The 3 stone diamond ring also symbolizes the Holy Trinity in Christian religions.

One of the most classic designs for the 3 stone diamond ring is a strongly brilliant princess or emerald cut solitaire flanked by two flat diamond baguettes. Often these baguettes are part of the shank or band of the ring. Some people don't like the look of baguettes as they seem very utilitarian and don't flash as much as other faceted diamond shapes. It is also quite common to see two smaller round diamonds flanking a larger square, pear, oval or heart shaped diamond that acts as the focal point of the ring's design. This makes for a 3 stone diamond ring that has substantially more sparkle than one set with two baguettes.

Recently there has been a trend towards three stone diamond rings that contain a single diamond as the central stone. This stone is then flanked with a matching pair or rubies, emeralds or sapphires. Very popular lately is the cognac or canary colored diamond that is flanked by two pink sapphires. This was inspired by an engagement ring that was given to Jennifer Lopez some years ago by actor Ben Affleck.
